iGoogle & Google calendar

I have had an iGoogle page for AGES.  It is great.  Here is a little look see -

Google Calendar:
This shared resource could be used as a tool to facilitate communication within a team.  It could be used to access rosters, team duties, operational deadlines etc.  That it can be accessed by only those invited, and from onsite and remote locations makes it a very useful resource for library staff and library locations.

Google Books

An advanced search in Google books for images, biographical information on Thomas Cromwell resulted in 500 results.

With the ability to save a selected book to your own library, you will never run out of something to read!

More Google

Exploring Translation tools:

The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.
Translation to Spanish:
El zorro marrón Quck saltó sobre el perro perezoso

  • Select a website you would like to translate. Paste the URL into the text box and select another language.

http://www.repubblica.it/   - This is a very popular Italian newspaper translated from Italian to Icelandic

  • Describe in your blog how Google Translate might be used as a tool to help library clients

I have used this translate function during a training session with TAFE students on a Introduction to the Internet session.  In the class there was a young lady from Brazil, who was new to Australia and did not know how to communicate with her new classmates.  Using the Google/Babblefish translator function allowed for her to make friends with her fellow students.  It also enabled her to read the latest Aust news in her language and assisted with her language learning.

Web Browsers

I have used Firefox for ages, and am a huge fan.  I really like their add-ons and find them all user friendly.  IE on the other hand gives me the irrates.  I have often found the audio, of very poor quality, the pages slow to load and a number of other small unnecessary tech problems that in this day and age should not happen.  I have heard really good things of Safari, for Mac users.  But not being a Mac user i can see the benefits.
I have now started using Chrome, but I am still faithful to Firefox.  Oh dear, does this mean I don't like change?
